Soundsuit Invasion was a multi-night event to commemorate the opening of the Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth exhibit at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, Virginia.
The exhibit showcased Cave’s hand-sewn collection of Soundsuits. Drawing influences from traditional African garb, the soundsuits are fashioned from found and repurposed materials along with decorative accents such as buttons, beads and sequins.

For the events, dancers from local organizations and universities performed several choreographed pieces wearing the works of art. When moving, the suits produce sounds turning the dancers into musical instruments.
The commissioned posters and program drew inspiration from the colors and vibrancy of the constructed soundsuits.
